Shale houses and slate roofs, cobblestone streets, crystalline water channels that run alongside the streets. An idyllic place that makes us travel back in time.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<h5>Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o<\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3153 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/villamontes.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/29433240_942681535856787_129792983972184064_n.jpg\" alt=\"Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o\" width=\"274\" height=\"400\">Nowadays, P\u00ed\u00f3d\u00e3o almost needs no introduction. It is one of the best known, if not the best known historical village in Portugal. An authentic nativity scene in shades of shale and blue. Considered a Property of Public Interest since 1978 and one of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/aldeiashistoricasdeportugal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">12 Historic Villages of Portugal<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This village maintains its original layout and is full of magnificent corners. If you don't know it yet, the visit is mandatory. The oldest record of the village dates back to 1527, when King Jo\u00e3o III ordered the registration of the Kingdom to be carried out. On this date, the village would have approximately 20 people; however, traces of people from the late Neolithic to the Bronze Age are found, that is, approximately between 4000 BC to 700 BC, which imposes an important cultural heritage on it.<\/p>\n<h5>Foz d&#8217;\u00c9gua<\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3151 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/villamontes.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/PFE-024-683x1024-1.jpg\" alt=\"Foz d'\u00c9gua\" width=\"257\" height=\"386\"><\/p>\n<p>A visit to Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o does not rule out a visit to Foz d\u2019\u00c9gua. For the more adventurous, there is a trail of only 3 km, which takes you along the slopes of the Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o stream, where you will have the opportunity to see the animals grazing on the ancient terraces and incredible landscapes. After the tour, you will have a well-deserved rest on the river beach of Foz d\u2019\u00c9gua, known for its suspension bridge and the magnificent shale houses on the slopes.<\/p>\n<p>The mystical beauty of this village is undeniable and it is impossible to remain indifferent. The construction in shale, characterizes its rural mountain aspect, being this one of the mandatory places to visit in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/villamontes.pt\/serradoacor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Serra do A\u00e7or<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<h5>Ch\u00e3s d&#8217;\u00c9gua<\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3154 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/villamontes.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Ch\u00e3s_d\u00b4Egua_Aldeia_de_Xisto_-_panoramio_1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Ch\u00e3s d'E\u00b4gua - Coja\" width=\"493\" height=\"228\"><\/p>\n<p>Despite being less famous, it retains the same charm. Ch\u00e3s d\u2019\u00c9gua, is located just above the famous Foz d\u2019\u00c9gua.
